First and foremost, what ignited your passion for makeup, and how did you get where you are today?
As children, we had no specific idea of what job or career we wanted to pursue. Yet, skincare and hair styling have been part of our routine from an early age, and we genuinely enjoyed doing it. Also, we loved exploring beauty tricks with our sisters and friends, and we felt an intense fulfillment watching them love what we do. This was when we realized that we had a knack for it besides the fact that we enjoyed doing it.
Nevertheless, when we eventually got serious about entering the beauty industry and setting up our business, we faced some challenges that we had to learn to overcome. For example, customer service is always challenging. Besides clients’ clear expectations, our clientele is very diversified, requiring us to adapt and cater to people’s specific wants and needs. When we collaborate with people on campaigns or photoshoots, we must ally creativity while creating the makeup look, pay close attention to different points of view and adapt our work accordingly.
According to you, which pro-tips would you deem indispensable for everyone?
Skincare is undoubtedly the first thing to consider. We would recommend people start applying minimal makeup. Besides reducing the steps and making it more wearable throughout the day, once people remove it, they tend to feel more confident about their natural self and appearance. Self-love is paramount before using any type of makeup because this is just a tool to enhance one’s beauty and natural features. This is why we truly enjoy working on the skin from foundation to glow. Also, applying fewer layers helps your makeup last much longer!
How do you manage to keep a flawless and glowing skin despite Kuwait’s harsh weather?
We try to stay hydrated as much as possible, and we emphasize on our skincare routine, which starts with proper exfoliation to lock in the skin’s natural moisture.
In fact, to ensure that our skin stays hydrated throughout the day, we love using hydrating mists.
Finally, to maintain a glowing look, we always go for a liquid glow on the high points of the face and the lips.
Considering the success of your business, what expansion plans do you have for Alrumaih Beauty?
We are consolidating what we have and focusing on enhancing our brand’s recognition. Besides, we sincerely hope to launch our own makeup line soon! We are also open to entertaining several ideas, such as providing classes or online courses, but this is not in the pipeline yet.
What advice would you give to people who would love to become makeup artists and look up to you as role models?
Practice is crucial, and people should not be afraid of trying different looks and styles until they figure out their strengths and identity. Once people clearly understand who they are as makeup artists, they should leverage their strengths and start highlighting them to eventually come up with a “Signature Look”!
